The outstanding properties of barrel roller bearings are their vertical bearing capacity and the capacity of insulation of small amplitude vibrations.
Barrel roller bearings may bear masses, which undergo small vibration amplitudes after the respective spring deflection or excite them by themselves. These bearing elements are suitable for selected motors, compressors, aggregates, assembly facilities but also for heavy control cabinets, feedback control installations, fixed control stations, measuring systems.
Conical mounts damp vertical vibrations, insulate to protect against structure-borne sound and may absorb big horizontal forces (e. g. brake forces) at the same time.

Double U mounts are particularly suitable for bearing instruments, aggregates, pumps, condensers and compressors. They are appropriate for the removal of ventilation channels, because they also may compensate structure-borne sound insulation apart from the thermal extension.

Particularly, if here low frequencies – between 5 Hz and 15 Hz- may be used as exciting frequencies, on the one hand a damping in the natural frequency range of the system is wished, but on the other hand a good insulation property in the range exceeding this natural frequency (divergent bearing) is required.

The bearings are suitable for the protection of sensitive instruments from outside impact loads in case of a use of mobile or non mobile instrument bearings.
An other possibility is the insulation to have a protection against structure-borne sound e.g. in small pumps which are fixed to „resonance grounds“ (sheet metals).
