Manufacturer
SKF (Svenska Kullagerfabriken) is a Swedish group with a wide range of products and services in the areas of rolling bearings, seals, lubrication and systems, mechatronics (preload tools) and related services such as maintenance and training.
SKF was founded in 1907 and grew into a quick global company. The first factory was built in Gothenburg (Sweden), where the international headquarters of the SKF Group is still located today. The Group is present in more than 130 countries and employs around 44,400 employees, has 15 technology centers, 103 production sites and works with round 17,000 authorized distributors.
Application
Single-line lubrication systems by SKF and Lincoln
This animation demonstrates system components, operating principles and typical applications. SKF single-line lubrication systems are simple to design and easy to expand or reduce. These systems work reliably in a wide range of applications and effectively under harsh conditions. This animation shows the components of such systems and how the lubricant is delivered from a pump unit to the lubrication points via metering devices. Monitoring and control options are also covered.
Application
Dual-line lubrication systems - For harsh conditions
Dual-line lubrication systems work with two alternately pressurized main lines that transport the lubricant to the lubrication points via distributors. They are flexibly expandable and can be combined with progressive distributors. The system works in two half-cycles: In the first, lubricant is pumped into one main line while the other is relieved. Once the set pressure is reached, a final pressure monitor sends a signal to the control unit, whereupon the pump stops and the changeover takes place. This ensures that all lubrication points are supplied precisely.
Application
Progressive lubrication systems
SKF progressive lubrication systems are flexible, reliable and reduce friction and wear in various industries. They precisely supply up to 150 lubrication points with lubricant over distances of around 15 m, and even over 100 m for oil lubrication systems. They also offer monitoring and control options for optimum lubrication and cost reduction.
Components for lubrication systems
Lubrication pumps and pump aggregates
Lubrication pumps convey lubricant into automatic lubrication systems and ensure the required pressure. The selection depends on the system type, drive, design, lubricant quantity as well as pressure and temperature requirements.
Areas of application
- Single-line, dual-line and progressive lubrication systems
- Multi-line and small oil circulation systems
- Small oil circulation systems
Lubricant distributor
Lubricant distributors guarantee the targeted supply of a defined quantity of lubricant to individual or several lubricating points. To select the right distributor, the following criteria are important: The style of lubrication system, type of lubricant and the quantity used should be known, the pressure and temperature range as well as the mode of operation of the distributor.
Areas of application
Suitable for single-line, dual-line, progressive, multi-line and recirculating oil systems
Monitoring of lubrication systems
Control units control lubrication processes, regulate pause times and monitor system values. At malfunctions, they send warning signals to prevent damage. In oil circulation systems, this task is often performed by the machine control system. Lubrication times, pressure, lubricant quantity and stand as well as the number of lubrication cycles are recorded for function control.
Areas of application
- Single-line, dual-line and progressive lubrication systems
- Multi-line, oil circulation and oil-air lubrication systems
- Minimum quantity lubrication
Control units and software for lubrication systems
Control units regulate the operation of lubrication systems by automatically starting lubrication cycles, setting pause intervals and monitoring relevant system data. At deviating values or malfunctions, they make of warning signals to prevent failures and damage. In oil circulation systems, this task is often performed by the machine control system. Parameters like lubrication times, pressure ratios, lubricant quantity and fill level are recorded. The number of lubrication cycles is also monitored to ensure that the system functions reliably.
Software enables the remote monitoring and control of various lubrication systems, including single-line, dual-line, progressive and minimum quantity systems.

Accessories for lubrication systems
The right equipment improves the efficiency of lubrication systems and makes special lubrication tasks easier. Applicators like nozzles, brushes and pinions guarantee precise lubricant distribution. In addition, suitable pipe and hose accessories as well as quick couplings ensure a safe and reliable connection, even at pressures up to 350 bar. Solder-free pipe connections enable single mounting, while special containers ensure optimum storage of the lubricant.
Areas of application
Suitable for various lubrication systems, including single-line, dual-line, progressive and oil-air lubrication systems.

High performance barrel pumps
Medium and high pressure pumps with pneumatic or electric drives enable the reliable pumping of grease, oil and other liquids. In addition, membrane and transfer pumps are available, as well as systems for large containers. The selection depends according to the viscosity of the medium, the pressure requirements, the ambient temperature and the type of drive.

Electric lubricant dispenser EDL1
The Lincoln EDL1 is a compact booster pump for sectional lubrication systems. It increases the inlet pressure up to 280 bar and enables reliable lubrication, also at remote machines. An integrated control system allows time- or pulse-dependent lubrication, while switch contacts facilitate monitoring. The EDL1 is an ideal lotion for expandable systems and efficiently replaces outdated lubrication pumps. Its single mounting, IP65 protection class and optional pressure monitoring make it especially versatile and applicable.
